Who we are

Chadwick Town Planning is headed by Duncan Chadwick, a Chartered town planner based in Oxfordshire with over 40 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors.

Before establishing the company in March 2021, Duncan worked for David Lock Associates for 13 years, becoming a Partner in 2012 and joining the Executive Board in 2017 with responsibilities for resource management, recruitment, mentoring and tendering.

Duncan has successfully secured allocations and planning permissions for numerous projects ranging from major residential and commercial schemes through medium-scale developments to individual new houses, conversions and extensions. He has acted for site promoters, landowners, house-builders, developers, corporate bodies, academic institutions, charities and individuals on sites across the country and has also worked overseas in SE Asia on behalf of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Duncan has been an External Examiner on the Masters’ planning courses at Newcastle University (2014-17) and University of Cardiff (2012-15), a RTPI APC Assessor (2007-11) and is currently a visiting lecturer at Cardiff University and a Member of the RTPI Partnership Board at Sheffield University.

Other highlights of Duncan’s career so far include delivering leadership and decision making training to councillors from local planning authorities on behalf of the Planning Advisory Service, being a key speaker at Planning Summer School in 2010 and presenting at Town & Country Planning Association (TCPA) and RTPI events.
